One candle to symbolize the countdown to my 40th!

Just before my special birthday meal. Roast lamb, mmmm!

As usual, the kids really got stuck into the cake!

Eugene being silly (must be the medicine for his tonsils) while big-sister Karla looks on.

Sunday morning in Freo looking for some shoes for Karla.
Just look how tall she has grown.

Karla's Netball Prize Giving

The Kardinya Breakers Netball Club had their awards breakfast this morning. The event was held at the Swan Yacht Club. Karla made us very proud by receiving "The Most Improved" player award, with the reputation of being a "fierce & fiery" player. Congratulations princess, we are so very proud!

The Mundaring Weir day-trip

The Lavender Patch, which is a B&B and tea-room on the way to the weir.

Inside the tea room, with a old cast-iron wood stove to warm it up. Amazing place.

Mundaring weir on the C Y O'Connor Lake.

The B&B at The Lavender Patch. $200/room, which includes a full breakfast for two.

A pair of Carnaby's enjoying a meal in a bottle-brush tree.

A nice shot of three Galah's sitting on a feeder in the bush (just before Eugene ran by and the flew off!)

Karin hand-feeding some wild Ringnecks parrot's at the Mundaring weir.

...just missed Eugene's "shark car", haha!

Perth reflections (on an icy cold evening).
A 105 degree view of Perth CBD, the Swan River and ferry terminal in South Perth.

Springboks and ND8 filter

Karla wearing her South Africa t-shirt my sister sent her.
The parcel arrived on Thursday. Dankie 'Laine & Andre!
Go the Springboks!!! Dankie weereens Andre en Elaine!

An apt name for a suitably used vehicle. Next weekend we also plan to "go bush" for the weekend.

Lunch today; splashed out a bit on Dutch cheese and butter. Mmmm!

Kings Park outing - Father's Day

A quick update. Saturday was quite busy, but on Sunday I got spoilt for Father's Day. I had bacon and poached eggs on toasted sesame bread, and was not allowed to wash any dishes! I then received a lovely set of whisky tumblers as a gift from the kids. At around 10am we travelled to Kings Park, as the Wild-Flower festival had begun. There was a concert in one of the parks and we even stumbled across the South African section inside Kings Park. Amazing how many memories we associated with the "Aalwyn" (African Aloe plant) and Strelitzia's! The cherry on top was when Karin bought me one of Ken Duncan's latest books. Just spectacular!

The concert and park viewed from the top of the hill.

Karla with the "flower people" which make up part of the Wild Flower Festival.

The beautiful (native) Kangaroos Paw flower.
An "Aalwyn", which is a type of Aloe that grows all over South Africa.

One of the Strelitzia's which brough back a lot of memories of South Africa.
