First Spring Braai (5 days early, I know)

After a hectic spell at work, and last weekend pretty much just sleeping it off, we had a window of fine weather this week and so just HAD to braai. I took the day off on Friday to do things around the house, which was good. Just time to relax and get ready for when the Neuman's, Bann's and Scott came over for our first Spring braai. The weather was superb and sitting around the fire into the evening, the smoke just went straight up into the clear, calm sky. Bliss.

Oh, and we watched the Wallabies vs. the All Blacks, and WHAT A GAME. We were all gutted by the loss, but our boys played a fantastic game. Good on ya boys!! Hooper, respect brother. I was not a fan, but now I am.

Just before the anthems I ran out to get the Q warmed up....

...and just before the Haka threw on the lamb (what else?) chops...

20 Minutes into the game we paused it, said grace and dished up. Welcome Scott too.

The Three Musketeers reunited...they had a great time. Yes, Lily played along and was tired by the end of it (see photo below).

Aaah, just chilling around the Weber with a fire burning.

Lily having a nap with Karin; on our Made in China chair ;-)

Greg and Briar in relax mode.

Petie was a little unwell (hope you feel better soon swearie) , but it was great to have them over too. Petie only got here late, as he was working.

The Dockers last-hurrah at Domain Stadium

I think Petie and I were both hoping for a good game against Richmond, but in the end it was embarrasing. Another 104 point loss...

Let's hope the 2018/19 season, and new stadium, bring bigger and better things.

The guys doing their last pre-game warm-up at Domain Stadium.

The Stadium was jam-packed at the start of the game;...and less so after Q3.

Jaffle Test run for the Fair...

Thick slice bread, ~70g curry mince and 4 minutes in the waffle-iron over a "low" gas burner, and viola!

Elmar's in the Valley - Das Gud

A day out with friends is just what we needed. The rain held off and the sun shone! Bargain! As usual the beer was gud, the pretzels even better and the meals A-1! Looking forward to the next visit in summer ;-)

If you looked up "naughty" in the dictionary, this is the picture you'd find...

The girls waiting for lunch. You can just see one behind the cup; one of Elmar's AWESOME pretzels!

I'm juts holding this for a guy...not mine, no siree...

PROST!

They do serve the usual Aussie sizes, but also a proper German 1 litre versions.
Let's just say one is plenty :-)

Elmar's, jou lekke ding.
Mmmm, lunch! Bratwurst, sauerkraut, mash and mustard. Delicious.

Beat's wheat beer.

Karla sipping some Coke-Zero before her Apple-Strudel arrives...

Beat, hamming it up for the camera ;-)

Eugene and Ryan had a great 3-hours, as there is a massive grassed (and fenced) area out back.
I took the footy ball and frisbee along.

A quick stop at Yahava for a coffee before heading home.
As usual the girls checked out all the usual bits-and-bobs in the shop.

Me posing with Sandri so her dad can see I am also wearing a scarf. We are getting "soft" in our forties, haha!
