A Family reunion a decade in the making...

We last saw Mark, Vanessa and Kim in September 2010. It was so good to see them again, and Eugene and Kim got along like a house on fire! We had a full-on 5 day catch-up, several braai's, the obligatory Van Rensburg finger-board arguments and "alles was mooi!"

Enjoying a day out at Shoalwater Beach, near Penguin Island.

Spur burgers anyone?

Some refreshments obtained from Kalahari in Willeton...

After a Jetboat spin in Freo.

A 1 litre beer at Elmar's in Swan Valley.

...as soon as we are home, they are back on "their devices"...

Just before World War 3 broke out. Kim did not enjoy losing to Mark and Eugene ;-)

Walpole - Denmark - Albany

What a place?! The South coast of W.A. is up there with some of the most spectacular and beautiful places I've ever been. Why did we wait so long to come down here?

Yes, it is a bit windy at times, but that is the outdoors, and you have to just take it as it comes and make the best of it. Case in point; Eugene and I were swimming at Greens Pool at 8:30am. The water was cool, but the place is heavenly.
The tree-top walk in The Valley of the Giants

Eugene inside one of the Red Tingle trees. This one is about 400 years old.

Testing the revised, light-weight camp setup. Worked a charm!

Scotch Fillet with Garlic butter....

Night 1 at Parry's Beach camp. Primo spot.

Eugene was one butter-the-buns duty all weekend.

Greens Pool - Photo's do not do it justice.

Eugene enjoying another part of Greens.

The water is like glass. A bit windy in this photo, but you get the idea.

Elephant Cove - Also beautiful, and 40m walk from Greens Pool.

The stairs down to Elephant Cove. There is a fresh water spring too.

"The Gap", near Albany.

Natural Bridge, which is just a short walk from The Gap. $15 Park fee required.

Some surfers at The Blowholes. Nice spot, but quite a hike, and in our
case the sea was not rough enough for the blowholes to blow. Bugger.

Our improvised, $2.80, foil wind-break. Worked as good, if not better, than anything you could buy!

Our site. It is hard to get a spot here, but once you stay here you know why.
It will be hard to find a better spot than Parry's I reckon.

The usual Aussie beach signage...

Saturday evening. Just relaxing.

Our Sunday morning wake-up "rooster".
