Fremantle Round House

ANZAC Dawn Service - Monument Hill War Memorial, Fremantle

Just as the Dawn Service started. A beautiful, cool morning. There were thousands of people.
It took me 20 minutes to find parking, and a steep walk to get here.

People heading home at the conclusion of proceedings.
The sky had turned gray as if in recognition of the men and women lost during the wars.

Families and returned service men looking at the numerous wreath's laid this morning.
A poignant reminder of lives lost on both sides. Part of the rememberance is also for
Australians who died in the Boer War, fighting my forefathers.

The Port of Fremantle viewed from Monument Hill War Memorial.

A parting shot looking towards sunrise.

George Str & Freo Art's

Inside "George Str Merchants" in East Fremantle.
Andrew, Vicky and I also had dinner at the George Str Bistro (Next door) on Wednesday evening.

An artsy-fartsy chair inside a Fair-Trade shop in East Freo.

Inside "Wine Liasons", a well stocked bottle shop on George Str. We bought some Savanah Cider and KWV red wine.

The shop seen from the outside.

Karla at a parking pay-and-display machine in Fremantle, before we went to watch the shows
which are part of the Fremantle Arts Festival, which is on over Easter.

Ouside "The Attic", a new coffee shop in Freo.

The Attic again with me showing my battle wounds from the knee operation I had a week ago.

One of the many acts taking part in the Arts Festival. These two were playing the Blues and doing a cracking job of it too!

The BLUE BULLS at church (Good Friday)

When we went to the Good Friday service this morning, lo-and-behold half of the Blue Bulls rugby team were there too.
Karin and Eugene in the left, lower corner.

After church we had a coffee in town (Freo) and I snapped this photo of a local icon,
the Esplanade Hotel.

Vicky Fish visits

Last night Vicky was at our place for dinner, desert and some live music! Karin baked her famous Lasagna and we had milk-tart for desert. Mmmm! After coffee Karla played us some of the tunes she has been practising and playing since starting lessons. Well done Karla! Vicky is here to teach Tina and myself some bits on NIR and also trying to further enhance our NIR calibration.

Just chatting after the main course...

Karla and Vicky enjoying some milk-tart and frothed-milk hot chocolate for desert.

Karla playing us all some classical guitar to end the evening. Thank you princess!

Congratulations Stefan und Marion!!

We had great news from our good friends in Germany. Marion is expecting her and Stefan's first child! Great news and Stefan must surely now be allowed to buy a Nikon D3s and 85mm f/1.4 lens to get perfect baby photos!!?

Our best wishes and congratulations.

Stefan and Marion Muche
PS: Start catching up on your sleep now! As the baby will be there in your winter, it should make for some nice, cold late-night TV watching, hehehe!

Karin's Quilting - She's back into it big-time!

A sure sign that things have truly settled after our move to WA is that Karin has started quilting again, and yours truly is racing cars again. All is well! We thank God.

Karin putting some final touches on the quilt for the coffee table in the lounge.

Closing up the quilt and starting the zigzag stitching on the squares.

A close-up of the stitching. Karin is still using the Janome machine we bought when we first moved to NZ. I think we bought it in 2004.

Eugene, finishing off the last of the chips while Karin was sewing.
Both he and Karla (she was practising guitar) are eating us out
 of house and home!

Being cute. He is also perfecting being cheecky!

A final photo for the family. He is growing quickly and is like a little dynamo.
There is no "in-between"; he is either going at things flat out, or he is sleeping!
