Elmars - Swan Valley (Das Gute!)

We got there at ~11:15am, and only three tables were still available (unbooked). When we left at 2pm it was jam-packed!
Great spot.

$10 For six tasters - Well worth the dosh. 3-Photo pano (original is very high resolution).

Tomato soup and beer? Yes, it works!

Geno and his chicken nuggets....

...and our beautiful Karla had potato & leek soup with smoked German bratwurst. Very tasty!

Final practise - Eugene's first footy season ends (yah!)

This post is a week late, but here you go. Eugene really enjoyed his first season of footy and has improved markedly. He now has most of the basic skills down (in principle :-) )and really loved going down to the oval on Friday or Sunday. Thanks to Andrew Trosic for the coaching; good on ya.

The Rock Crawl Adventure

Well, we were up at 5:30 and on the road 6:45....then I got a little lost (kinda). The upside is, we took the Captiva well and truly off the beaten track. When I say "we went bush", I am talking BUSH! We went as off-road as I dare with a 2WD Captiva, and the pic below was snapped only once we were back on-road. Karin and the kids loved it, and I did too :-)

However, eventually we had mobile reception again, and eventually found the Rock Crawl competition site. Magnificent spot (see Facebook)! We will go there again with some mates for an outing and take the R/C truck along to play.

Petie and Philip also came out and spent roughly 3 hours with us. I was a bit distracted (sorry Petie :-( ), but we had the Gazebo, chairs, the Esky and all the other bits to make it as comfortable as possible, so hope they had a good time too.

All-in-all a great day out.

A little lost, but having fun!

AXIAL SXC10 Chassis. I'm Running a Deadbolt body kit (not shown).

Eugene with his first-ever R/C car. We spent a little more, but this is a decent kit. 4WD, independent wishbone suspension, CV joint etc.
Way better than my first car by a long shot. He is a lucky boy :-)

Winter Cadac braai at Point Walter

We spent most of the day at Point Walter today, and had a great time. Sunny weather and only a mild breeze. We threw some patties, bacon and Mufasa cocktail boerewors on the skottel, and it tasted good.

We even tried to catch a fish or two, but no go. In the end Eugene, Philip and MP were "fishing" with nothing but sinkers on the line, basically practising their casting skills.

Gene helping dad load the bakkie with the bits and pieces...and I got a love-heart!

Our spot on the banks of the Swan River. Awesome!

A wider angle view.

Starting the cook-up.

Briar, Mariaan and Ouma enjoying some snacks and each others company.

Mmmm! Look at that!

Oom Greg with a big "fish" on...

Gene just about bending the crank on the reel while winding in the line, haha.

Family in Wales discover the wonder that is the Ikea Hot Dog!

Ikea hot dogs, brekkie and meatballs are legendary! Glad that Ligtoring and Retha have had a chance to savour this fine cuisine too! Great stuff.

60p Bargain - Who needs a kitchen?!

...and some so-so coffee to wash it down with. Retha, you'll find some good, Italian coffee there somewhere...
